According to Chinese Medicine there are 5 elements that are fundamental to the cycles of nature and are reflected in the cycles of our bodies. We all have the 5 elements within us arranged slightly differently. The elements are Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. Each element is associated with its own particular season, emotion, and organ system.
Metal correlates with Autumn and the Heart, Lungs (and Intestines). Its power is balance and its virtue is justice. Healthy heart chi makes us feel warm, nourished and able to contact joy, inner peace and harmony.
During this 2 hour yin yoga practice we will stretch the body deeply holding poses specifically to influence heart, lung and intestine meridians for 3-7 minutes. You will feel like you’ve had a deep, meditative internal massage.
In addition to the energetic benefits, Yin yoga is fantastic for increasing flexibility, joint health and mobility. This practice is suitable for all practitioners from beginners to experienced yogi’s. Yin yoga is extremely relaxing but also challenging for the mind and body to be still.
