The Art of Touch
50-hour Teacher Training for hands-on assisting/adjustments for yoga teachers with Gemma Vassallo
Join Gemma and her team of expert assistants for this 50-hour urban teacher training in Paris.
11, 12, 13 October + 15, 16, 17 November 2019
Lead teacher: Gemma Vassallo
Assisted by: Danielle Coulibaly, Antoine Pommet, and Rachid Joudani
Please note that these assistants are highly experienced teachers, not teacher trainees.
Hands-on assisting during a yoga class can create an incredible experience for your students, helping them get into poses in new ways, giving them courage to try a pose they’re not confident to try on their own, or to simply make them feel good by aiding their physical and mental relaxation. Assists, when done poorly, can also feel horrible, be confusing, and potentially cause or aggravate injuries.
Hands-on assisting/adjusting can seem overwhelming for many teachers. You may have learnt a few adjusting techniques in your 200-hour training, or perhaps you learnt none at all. Whatever the reason, there is so much to think about when teaching a yoga class that it can be stressful for teachers to consider making hands-on adjustments whilst keeping the class flowing.
It’s time to take your teaching to the next level by learning how to confidently and safely perform hands-on assists no matter where you teach, what level your students are or what equipment you have (or don’t have)!
Dates: 11, 12, 13 October + 15, 16, 17 November
This course is run over 6 days.
Training hours are 9h00 – 19h00 each day. The schedule will be confirmed closer to the date. Course hours equal 50 hours face-to-face time.
It is possible to complete 25 hours (half of the training) by attending either the October or November dates but not a mix of the two. However, a certificate will be granted only for completing the full 50-hour training. Please note that registrations for the full 50-hour training will be given priority.
This training is taught bilingual English/Français, depending on the needs of the students and the teacher. This training is certified YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider).

This training is comprised of asana theory and lots and lots of practical experience. Did I mention there is lots and lots of hands-on practice? During the one-month break between sessions, you will also be required to assist one of your peers from the training during a live yoga class. You will repeat this at the end of the training to see your improvement.
Upon completion of this course you will have detailed knowledge, practical experience, and confidence when making hands-on assists/adjustments in your yoga classes.
This training is open to yoga teachers who have completed any 200-hour yoga teacher training.
You will receive a course completion certificate for 50 hours of hands-on assisting. This program is recognised by YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider) and counts towards Yoga Alliance’s RYT continuing education requirements.
To be confirmed, location will be in Paris easily accessible by Metro
